Kallakurichi district currently has four Assembly constituencies: Ulundurpettai, Rishivandiyam, Sankarapuram and Kallakurichi. The political representation of these constituencies is divided among different parties, creating a diverse political representation across the district. Ulundurpettai is represented by DMK MLA Vasanthavel G R, while Rishivandiyam is represented by DMK MLA Karthikeyan K. Sankarapuram is represented by AIADMK MLA Rakesh R, and Kallakurichi is represented by TVK MLA Arul Vignesh C. Different political parties therefore play an important role in local political activities and governance. The elected MLAs represent the concerns and needs of their respective constituencies, while development issues remain an important part of political discussions. Agriculture is particularly important for many communities in the district, along with road connectivity and public transportation. Employment and educational opportunities are also frequently discussed by residents. Healthcare facilities and public infrastructure remain important governance priorities. Elected representatives interact with residents through various public activities, while political parties organise meetings, campaigns and programmes across the district. The presence of different political parties can create active political competition and gives voters different political representatives at the constituency level. Kallakurichi’s current Assembly representation therefore reflects the changing political landscape of Tamil Nadu and the diverse political preferences of its people.
